Start your own list. Offer a free course or free ezine or free product... Get your visitors emails. Nothing best than your own list.

Izzybrewer, thank you for your advise. I thought that traffic exchanges don't work for lead generation because nearly all members are freebie seekers. They won't buy anything from you anyway.

Or am I wrong? Do you have a responsive email list?

Could you please also pm me the url of your email capture page that you use with traffic exchanges?

Thanks.

Yup! What Radhika said is correct. This is one of the most best way to promote your business. People usually want something for free first before they buy any product. But make sure your free stuff is a valuable item and has an irresistible effect, otherwise people simply throw away your free gift into a dustbin. Crying or Very sad

To make it even better, make sure your free gift has a link which direct to your website. If the people feel your free gift has a value to them, they might want to see what is it that you offer. This work pretty well for me. Try it. You will not believe the outcome.

One more thing izzybrewer, from my personal opinion, free traffic program will not going to give you a list that you desired. Come on, people who join the free traffic program are all the same people who want to promote their own business. For example, I don't think Jack is going to a free traffic program to search for new shoe, he might as well search a website that really sell shoes. Simple as that! Confused

For the last year and a half I have has a simple text link on my site to get people to sign up for my newsletter. I have had maybe 75 or 80 sign ups in that time. I recently placed the sign up link in a promonate location on my site and offered a free gift I created. I have averaged about 8 sign ups per day since making the change.

As for the responsiveness of these new sign ups.... time will tell as I haven't sent out my newsletter to them yet. I am sure some are just looking for a freebie but you have to take the good with the tire kickers.

Keyword here is 'targeted'. That implies you KNOW your audience. That means you can 'lure' them by writing an enticing article or free report.
Follow up after sign up. Let them know who you are, that you know your business and that you can help them. My 4th or 5th installment in a follow-up series is always about offering personal help!

Unless you offer them exactly what they need! Like free surfing credits to name just an example!

Again: targeting is the key. If you want to target small business owners, there's an example in my sig.
But if you know your business, you can easily write your own. Smile

If you have a web site just have a form to join your newsletter, this can be done easily in HTML and sent to your email address. IF you have a board and people usually have to enter their email address to join. Watch it with the spam though. Make sure they opt in and can easily be removed. It can backfire and cause resentment.

you GOTTA experiment. sorry but its work.. we have products that we tried namesqueeze techniques, 2 page landings and survey pages and guess what. They all work. namesqueeze worked great on site A but bombed on Site B. Surveys worked great on site B but failed miserable on the other sites.

All traffic is different and want and expect different things.

Best advice is to know your traffic and give them what they want NOT what the hottest guru is preaching.

I have found that the most effective way to build an email list is to offer a free gift to your visitors. I know that has been a said a gazillion times.
But there's a right way to do it and a wrong way to do it, as I found out.

Within three days of implementing a different strategy, I built up an opt-in subscriber list of just over 115 subscribers. It could be better, I know. But at least, it wasn't a bad start.
Here is how I did it.

1. I set-up an "email collection" page. This page offers a unique e-book just for signing up.

2. Note that this e-book is targetted to a specific set of individuals and so if you are not interested in the material, you are free to leave as you would hardly be interested in any of the products I offer.

3. I then focus on driving traffic to my "e-mail collection page" using traffic swarm and other free traffic sites.

Of course, you may not want a "toll-gate" to your website, but whatever you do, make your sign-up form obvious to your visitors.

Hope that helps.

A newsletter is a great way to get leads. I agree that people love to get something free. I ve also seen that when you do get a list of people that trust you you can send an e-mail that says that your having a sale and they will respond with more sales than you would ever expect
