technorati is a search engine for blogs. It works like a social bookmarking site.

You can find blogs in your subject of interest by country, importance, languages.

You can see in a glance what blogger are talking about right now.(look at the clouds)

It can be great to find new trends and new niches.

You need to Tag and Ping. Everytime you post to your blog, ping technorati. You can do that manually or with pingoat or pingomatic.

When you add tags to your blog posts, your post will appear under the category after a few minutes, and people will be able to find your blog.
