Well, I receive some direct traffic from directories. I think it's not bad to submit to few directories with high PR and traffic.
I know there is a very little SEO use of doing that, but still there is some.
Of course, submitting to any single directory that you see is a waste of time. In my opinion, there is use to submit to 5 - 10 high traffic general directories and several niche ones for your niche _________________ Ultralight Airplane | Risk Investing | Calendar Script | smart personal finance |

OK, thanks!
How can I find high traffic directories?
Isn't it hard to be accepted in the better ones? I mean, each and everyone is submitting there.
And if, then maybe on some later page in a category, where hardly one looks...as with the search engines, people look mostly on the first page.
And the later page in a category, the badder the PR too. _________________ Just COPY the system from Ewen Chia. http://www.AffiliateKickstart.com

I haven't had big problems submitting. If your site has some value (does not need to be great), they'll accept it. Unfortunately many of them require reciprocial link though
You can check the PR and Alexa traffic of the directories in many ways, but I use a firefox extension called "SEO for firefox".
In most cases you can't control the page your article will appear at _________________ Ultralight Airplane | Risk Investing | Calendar Script | smart personal finance |

There are many good articles written by knowledgeable people on the value of submitting to directories.
Other than a few, the consensus is that there's very little value in mass submissions to free directories.
Yahoo and bcentral are reputed to have some value. of course they cost money. I have definitely seen my serps results improve though as a result of being in yahoo and bcentral.
Dmoz is excellent if you can get it. Well worth it.
JoeAnt is pretty good and not expensive at all.
The others on the whole* are probably not worth your time and many can even hurt you because there is no editorial value associated with those directories and they're populated by junk and spam sites.
*There are exceptions I'm sure.
If you start to get the gut feel that taking some mechanical route to improving your site's authority is a waste of time, your gut is probably right. _________________ - blake

What I have read in several places, is that it's only worth to submit to DMOZ and Yahoo directory.
Other opinons or experiences? |
I too believe the samething.
Especially if your site is promoting affiliate products.
most of the directories say that we should not submit site with affiliate links.
There is no guarantee that those directories will list our site and it is a waste of time. _________________ Get Free Clickbank Mall & Search Box
