What are the most effective options to consider to build a list once you've picked your niche market?

Giving something away is always an excellent way to grab an email address. The creativity comes in when you need to think of WHAT to give away... Is it a ebook? Is it software/application/tool? Is it a membership?
There are lots of ideas - you just need to think of what your niche is hungry for, provide a nice chunk of THAT in a free (fill in here).

Yes Allan, you still have to pay for the Ads, but with the strategy applied by Dr Jon Cohen, here's what you get:
1. Other people pay the Ads for you (so you get the Ads for free)
2. You build your list
I'm aware that the strategy is controversial, but the way I see it, those people who look down to this strategy are those who NEVER apply it at all.
I personally think the strategy is doable and very creative

What I'm critical of isn't the strategy, it's the deliberately deceptive marketing of the strategy.
You might as well say... "I don't just get my PPC ads free, I get all my meals and vacations free! In fact, I get EVERYTHING free."
Yeah, that's right. I do affiliate marketing, and OTHER people buy things, and the commissions pay for all the meals. I get EVERYTHING free! What a wonderful world. Sigh.

Well, you have a point, but still... if we're talking about the strategy (the strategy only), it's brilliant right? Wouldn't you agree?
And back to the topic, I think it's a great way to build my list. Do you agree?

To me the best way to build a list is use a lead page with an eye catching ad on it and an opt-in form. I would get involved with a successful system that is based on giving away free information that teaches people how to effectively market their businesses since that is what 95 percent of the people on the internet struggle with and the main thing that keeps them broke.
I would advertise with solo ads on credit based safelists, ezines, forums, and write your own articles for submission to ezines and article directories. I would say use an article writing service if you don't know how to write, but I have a problem with this myself because I didn't write what the content of the article states and if someone asked me about the subject personally I wouldn't know the answer.
Once you can show the people an effective system for marketing their business, then you can introduce them to your primary business because they now know how to market and they will be more confident to join your program.
