Does anyone have any suggestions about PPC advertising? Is it better to bid a low amount for keyword or high?

For example, let's say I have a budget of $100. If I bid $1 for keyword, I might be ranked 3-10, get 1,000 impressions a day = 10 clicks so in 10 days I would get a total of 100 clicks, 10,000 impressions and spend $100.

But if I bid 20 cents for keyword, I might be ranked 30-60, get 100 impressions a day = 1 click, so in 500 days I would get a total of 500 clicks, 50,000 impressions and spend the same $100.

Which way is better?

If your rank 30-60, you can pretty much rest assured you're not going to get very many clicks at all.

I've always held that you should bid high initially and then lower your bids gradually over time.

Its really up to your gut feel Wink Seems you are knowledgeable on how PPC works.

Personally, I would bid low at first and test if I made the right choice on the keyword I am bidding for.

Hello,

I agree with Mr. Cat I believe that you should start with a lower bid and as those clicks convert into sales you can increase your bid and your daily cap.

You are totally lost. PPC advertising is NOT about impressions. It's about RESULTS.

Your job is to "Do the math". Your goal is to pay the least amount possible for the most clicks. Then it's up to you to test those clicks (Tracking) and make sure that they result in a solid ROI for the money you spend.

You really need to do some research before you jump in with any of the big boys or your $100 is going to be gone if a flash!

Allan's SpeedPPC is an awesome program for people serious about PPC marketing.

Think RESULTS and put your Tracking Backend and your landing pages in place before you give it a shot. Then you would be well advised not to play the Adwords game. Try a smaller cheaper PPC program to "learn" without wasting a lot of cash.
