Depends on your purpose. Write for people not machines and use keywords that are relevant and natural to the flow of the article.

Target a phrase or two per article and then write an article that people would want to read. Don't get so caught up with the keywords that your article doesn't read and flow in a normal manner.

As a good guideline, do research on your niche and see who is ranking, read their articles, search their articles to see how often keyword phrases are used. A lot of figuring out ranking is reverse engineering the people who are already ranking. The reality is this is what all good SEO people do. Because the actual ranking factors are unknown to everyone but the Search Engines themselves.

I see no point in writing text that no one wants to read.

The keywords that you are using must flow naturally in the article in order to let the reader fully appreciate your writing and let them read unto the very end thus finding your link at he bio.

Keywords are very important but no need to stuff your title/overdo it because chances are the article will either get declined and there will be little to no chance of direct traffic. As long as the phrase is within the title you should be able to get quality relevancy for your links in the about author section.

I.E if you have a site about broomsticks your title could be

How to fix broomsticks versus
Broomsticks - fix broomsticks - broomsticks fix - how to fix broomsticks

IF you can get away with stuffing I guess try it but the quality directories are few and far between and you don't want your hard work of submissions to be declined.

Choosing the right keywords and keyword phrases is the first and the most important step on a way to a successful website and improved search engine rankings. The keyword factor is the one that will decide whether your website promotion campaign will be a success or a miserable fail.

Keywords in the article plays very important role. These keywords are responsible for the search engine ranking. So if you want to boost the ranking through the keywords then try to include those keywords in the article & try to put links on them . But Its true that overdoing of keywords in one particular articleleads to non acceptance at the article suubmission directories & sometimes rejection . So write carefully.

Generally speaking, the more words the keyword phrase contains, the more targeted it is. For example, the phrase:

"action figure"

is not very targeted.

Compare that to"

"Star Wars Return Of The Jedi Luke Skywalker Action Figure"

The latter is a lot more targeted and is also likely to have a lot less competition online.

Writing quality articles as others have said makes perfect sense.

If you write those articles without doing your keyword research first your articles may never show up in the search engines.

Some will argue that you should only write for human readers and ignore keyword research. If human readers never see your article because you don't show up in the search results your article marketing efforts will not be well rewarded.

Write your articles around low-competition keywords for the best results. For instance, "weight loss" is a high competition keyphrase that would be very difficult to be found for in search results. "why is slow weight loss better than fast weight loss" is a much lower-competition keyphrase.

Essentially using low-comptetition keywords will increase your probability of success.

Good luck to you in your article marketing.
