I have just developed a program that appeals to millions of home owners nationwide in a multi-billion dollar real estate industry. Now what?
Not sure I can post the url here...

Any recommendations on how to get affiliates for it (CB) and places to promote? Thank you very much for your time!

Do you ask for a site review or do you just want to advertise your product?

Hi random, your URL wouldn't work for me, so I'm just offering general tips here, nothing specific...

As you've probably realized, rather than concentrating on
signing up thousands of affiliates, it's much more important
to find really good affiliates in key places.

For excellent, detailed, step-by-step advice on how to
sign up high quality affiliates in key places, I recommend
Bob Burg's book, "Endless Referrals".

You really need to study only ONE brief chapter.

The most important chapter for attracting high quality affiliates
is Chapter 15, and you can read that chapter online:
[UPDATE: Sorry, that page is no longer online.]

When you do have high-earning affiliates, help them, praise
them, pay them bonuses, phone them, give their site publicity
on your site. Send them flowers, champagne or chocolates...
Pay them a special high commission... Do whatever you can to
keep them loyal and enthusiastic. It's cheaper than finding
new ones!

Here are 28 ways to keep your affiliates loyal:

The Affiliate Marketing Archives at http://www.ClickZ.com
also provide useful advice.

The best way to announce your affiliate program to all the
top affiliate directories is to use Neil Durrant's Affiliate Announce. It
will save you a lot of time and hassle. Neil does the submissions
carefully, by hand, to make sure he gets them right.

[UPDATE: Neil Durrant sold his announcement service. It is now called AffiliateAnnouncement.com.]

He has also written a book for affiliate program managers
which is very good.

You could also advertise in my newsletter, which has more than
21,000 subscribers. Details: classads AT AssociatePrograms DOT com

I wrote a series of articles on how to find affiliates.

"How to hunt down super affiliates"

"How to hunt down super affiliates PART 2"

"How to hunt down super affiliates PART 3"

Hope that helps.

My little tip is to pay your super affiliates fast. Or advise your client to do so.

Paying affiliates immediately at the end of the month, (send checks for July sales on August 1 or 2) month after month, really does a lot to build trust and loyalty.

It costs nothing and gives you an edge over every other program manager. You'll most likely only have a handful of real performers anyway so it's just a few checks to write.

Once you are sure you can do this, brag about it to every prospect super affiliate.

If the accounting department balks, tell them that some old bozo you met on a board paid out over $100,000 this way every month for 3 or 4 years so why can't they do it too? Tell them that if you don't get these super affiliates, there will be no money to count, thus no need for accountants.

Super affiliates won't be desperate for the money, but they will recognize the extra effort and you will brand yourself as a leader and a professional in their eyes.

Good luck!

I think every Merchant/Affiliate Manager should look at this thread and use it as a reference when creating an Affiliate Program.

Closest thing to being a manual on how to become a successful affiliate manager.

Hi mike_l - I agree! Great thread.

Allan, thanks for those resources and articles. Some I had not seen before. I will probably blog about this thread and send some people over. Great info.

Phil - right you are.

My favorite program has money to me 15 days after the month ends. Even if you don't "need" the money right then it makes you feel appreciated.

I personally can't stand programs that push payment out 45-60 days after the month ends. That's ridiculous! I did work for you - made you money and now you hold onto my money for another month or two? Bad way to make a positive impression.

We developed a similar program (I guess).
It sells very well in Australia and we are starting now selling it in the USA.

The price is $39 and sales are handled by ShareIt. The affiliate commission is 50%.

I am not the original poster of this message. I react because of the incredible coincidence and off course more affiliates are welcome.
