Hey there!

Just joined - this is my 1st post. Great stuff, here.

Building my 1st SBI! site. Registered domain just under 2 months ago. It has 70 pages, full of content, and 2 - 3 affiliate links per page, some pages 0 affiliate links. Most pages AdSense. Just got 1st AdSense click - yay!

I have only a few links going out FROM my site, and the only links coming IN so far from Yahoo! Paid $299 Directory, ASK/Teoma Paid Directory and dMoz + a couple of mini-hubs.

Just started to get a bit of traffic from Google. Getting about 20 visitors a day, so far. Got another 100 pages to build.

3 questions please:

1) What's a great rock n' roll link-building strategy?

2) Does PR Prowler work?

3) I've only had 1 possible link exchange come-up from the SBI! Value Exchange - which didn't turn into an exchange - and none since. Is Value Exchange any good?

My Love and Thanks,

Scott Stevens

Your post belongs in either the Link Exchange or Web Promotion forums, not "for new affiliates." Smile even though you are new, the strategies aren't

You can ask Wally to move by doing a PM to him (he is the Admin), or you can delete your post and repost in the appropriate forum.

I'll be back to respond once the post is in the right place to avoid confusion.

Wow! It's already been moved...

4) Is it best to have a links directory page (for outgoing, non-monetary links) - if so, how many links on the page? Or is it best to have a handful of links on each page - if so how many?

My Love and Thanks,

I prefer article distribution as my primary link building strategy. Since I love to write, having my articles distributed to other related sites ... with my links in the resource box ... has been one of the fastest ways I know of to build PR and credibility and does a great job of helping to brand my site.

Don't know about this software.

VE is great for some users, not so for others. I think it depends a lot on the category you are in. Remember VE includes sites that have opted into using the free service, so the number of sites can be limited, but are usually of good quality.

Links distributed throughout your site are better for the site receiving the links from a traffic and SEO standpoint. Not many people "browse" link directories. However, I think a "link page" is better for the site having it since it keeps the non-monetized links out of the normal flow of traffic and increases the chance your visitors will click your monetized links.

Not to say you should only have a link page vs. distributed links ... sometimes there are sites that are just soooo good for your visitors you need to display them with more prominence if you really want to enhance the visitors experience while on your site.

As far as number of links per page? To get good quality links coming into your site in an exchange, keep the links to 30 or less for a link page. Easy to browse and it doesn't spread the PR so much it's worthless. If you are distributing your links around your site, keep them to 2 or 3 and low on the page.

Hope this helps,
Debs

Hiya Debs... just curious to know how you would go about distributing your own articles to other sites. I know there are article ezines out there. I have googled for the keywords "article directory" and "submit article" but havent found too much.

Thanks!

There is a list of article distribution sites on here, try the search feature to see if you can bring it up quickly.
