I have built a few SBI sites, and now moved to building my first proper JM site out side of the SBI system.
Comments, advice, success stories ?
Pretty lonely work, this JM web site building !!

Yes, I've had success using some JM methods.
Why is JM Web site building lonely work?
And can't you build a JM site using SBI?
JM's method is not that different than what Ken Evoy already has in the Affiliate Master's Course, it just fills in a few details.
I agree Yaron there really is not much difference. I think Martell has adressed a couple of practical issues that make working with multiple site easier.
An other difference I think James really sees this as a business, where Ken wants to follow our personal interests.
I think its what you prefer, but the basic generating traffic and capitalizing on it is the same.
IMHO, JM approach is pretty much DIY, you need to learn SEO techniques(that he covers in his book), some basic HTML codes and also frontpage.. however for SBI it's cater for a total newbie who has no knowledge of SEO and HTML code. however, both require hard work. You need to build minimum 50 pages of quality contents. Be prepare to work hard .

Ken also sees this as a business, although he's certainly more in favor of building sites around your interests.
The reality is that it is going to be easier to build a site about something you know and like, so it's hightly advisable to do so at least for your first site.
SBI and Martell work well individually and also combine wonderfully (discussed in other threads here), and both are designed to pull in free search engine traffic.
But I think there's a slight difference in perspective between the two, and how you use either or combine them depends on how you like to work.
Martell's method emphasizes building multiple sites that each have a limited number of product pages which receive links from dozens of short, keyword-focused article pages. The topic of the site isn't necessarily related to any of your passions, and the articles aren't necessarily very informative. The articles exist to bring in traffic from the SE's, and funnel visitors to the product pages.
SBI's method emphasizes building a portal site on a topic of so much interest to you that you can write several hundred in-depth, keyword-focused, informative content pages about it. It's more about building a useful site that becomes an authority on that topic - and visitors arrive, return, and link to you because of the valuable free info. Then you monetize the site in all kinds of different ways.
Please, you people are delusional. The only real difference between the two is one method preaches self reliance (Martell) and the other method(SBI) wants you to rely on them, for $400 per site, of course.Martell recommends you purchase the tools once, and use them over and over again(many sites); SBI encourages you to buy the same tools over and over again and use them once(one site).
Other than that, except for a few subtle differences(VERY FEW),the two strategies are virtually identical: build large sites, full of keyword driven content.

If you want to talk about Martell and "tools," here's one cavet for you. You probably know how he recommends HitsLink for tracking, right? My bill for that based on my current # of impressions would be about $30 a month for one site.
I paid $300 for my SBI site and that more than covers the tracking and all of the additional features are a plus.
In case if you're interested, I have 2 SBI sites and many more Martell style sites, so I definitely see the advantages using pure Martell or coupling Martell and SBI together. _________________ Robert

Robert,
For a person with no prior experience wanting to build his first site, just to get his foot in the door with minimum hassle, which would you recommend, an Evoy SiteBuild It, or James Martell Frontpage site? Considering I'd have to buy the frontpage software first, is their much cost difference? Thanks
I was wondering about buying Frontpage 2000 or 2003 also but was told that Frontpage Express, which is free could do the same functions as FP2000/2003. Does anyone know if FP express could be used to build the Martell type sites or is it missing some important components? _________________ Adsense Help Blog
Martell's is $167 I think, FP is around $120 (it's been awhile since I priced it). SBi is $495 unless you hit a special, then $299 a year for renewal. You can't really compare the two as the focus is so different. If you have the focus to follow through, either are excellent options for newbies and experienced alike, depending on what your focus is and what you want accomplish.
