I just recently started my Website for "Newbies" and businesses that would like to promote their products/services.

I have been scammed big time in the past 6 months, so I decided to do this Website, but unfortunately I cannot afford to pay to advertise it.

If you have any ideas, Please let me know!

Thank you so much for your time and consideration!

I think you should reconsider who you're targeting with your
web site ... if you're focusing on Newbies think about it ... most of them want to make money online but have few or no funds to invest online, you'll have a HARD taks at converting them into customers.

You'd better re-consider your niche,

Thanks,
Codrut.

Veronica, You're making the classic newcomer's error. You've set up a site giving advice on Internet marketing, but you don't know how to do Internet marketing.

You're more likely to have success if you choose a much smaller niche and aim to become an expert in it.

I strongly suggest you re-read Ken Evoy's free Affiliate Masters Guide. Print it out, find a quiet spot, study it carefully and take notes.

My Website is not about internet marketing, it is for people who would like to have their own websites on the Internet!

I know how to Market my Website via paying for it and some on the free, but I was looking for advise on different ways, maybe something I didn't know about!

I'm only trying to help people and ask little in return. I have been scammed big time ( we all have) and want to try and help some one else to not make the same mistakes.

If you have read my front page you would see this!!!

I too have somthing in the works to help people get on the internet. I am paying to have a program made to customize the templates I am currently selling on my site. Soon these will NOT be for sale but instead free. We will host all the images needed and even build meta tags and submit to search engines for free. This will all be automated so it's not like I have to sit there and do it myself. This is MY way of getting people on the internet. I wanted to start this because a lot of my friends want to start somthing online wether a homepage or somthing like an affiliate page and soon they and many others will be able too.

You want "to get something back" I too will get somthing back. The templates will have a little link on the bottom saying where they got it. A small price to pay for a free site. Purhaps you may do somthing along these lines. Maybe write articles and offer for other sites to use them if they link back to you. Or other creative ideas. The template thing would be great if you could obtain all the rights to use these. (just cause a site gves em for free doesn't mean YOU can) so I had 'fun' tracking people down...

I hope this helps!

One way of getting what amounts to free advertising is to learn more about how search engines work so you can get more free traffic from them.

For example, if you link to a page using the words "click here" as the words on which visitors will click (the anchor text) you're telling Google that the page they're about to visit is about the topic "click here".

(You're also telling Google that your main page is about "click here".)

Also, if you name a file "websitemarketingstrategies.html" you're telling Google that the page is all about "websitemarketingstrategies". Unfortunately, no one types that word into search engines.

To rank highly in search engines, you need to get lots of links to your site, preferably from sites on a theme similar to yours. One way is to write articles and submit them to article directories. There are various discussions on this message board about that.

Can't think of a topic? You could try: "What you must learn before you start building a web site".

You just defined a part of internet marketing, helping others make money online, get websites up, etc.

Allan was trying to help you see that you aren't "niched" enough ... getting traffic will be a real uphill battle.

Free may not be enough but you can:

exchange links
distribute articles with a linkrequired in the resource box

both will get links into your site, which you will need a tremendous amount of in order to get any decent placements in the free SE's.

Submit your site to as many free directories as you can, big and small, again, this will help with link popularity, but also may drive traffic to your site from the link exchanges, articles and directories.

I liked your site and almost felt your genuine concern for your
readers. I think most of the posters who responded to your
questions missed the point that you were seeking information
that you could use to pass on to your readers rather than
a critique of your site.

I like your up front approach. I am actully putting together some articles on
free advertising and low cost advertising methods and evaluating their effectiveness.

When I complete my evaluation, I'll let you know what works and what doesn't

Veronica,

A quick observation re your homepage...

You have the Adsense box directly above the email-grab form. I'm not sure which of these is the "most wanted response", but whichever, I think they risk detracting from each other.

How about blending in the Adsense a liitle more, as has been discussed lately.

Just a thought,
Charlie.

P.S. Have you read Ken Evoy's latest... "Make Your Content Presell"?

If you'll excuse a bit of classic English understatement - "not bad for a beta". Smile

I think Allan hit the nail on the head. Your site and topic is fine but to get free advertising you need to optimize your site to get free search engine traffic. Each page needs to target a particular phrase or keyword so that search engines can send targeted traffic to your pages.

It is not easy to target some of the home business keywords since there are a number of established sites that are already targeting the highly searched for phrases. There are always phrases that produce lower volumes of traffic and therefore less competition - that's where I'd start. You can find those phases by using wordtracker or the Overture keyword finder.

Once you have all of those phrases targeted then you can start going after better rankings for highly searched for home business keywords.

You will also need to increase your page rank by getting more links to your site. Visiti my site and add your site's url for starters.

wwwbug,

You are stretching your presence a bit with promotion of your own site - I moved your next message to Blatant Ads. Please read the Instructions section and follow the guidelines.

There are many ways of getting free advertising for your site.

The best is for you to do SEO for your site so that you can get good rankings and hits from the major search engines.

Other ways of getting free traffic is by:

* Adding your sites url to your forum and email signatures.
* Exchanging links with other sites
* Writting articles on your sites topic and then adding your sites url to your articles resource box. You can then submit your articles to the free reprintable article directories. For example, http://www.simplysearch4it.com/article/articledir.php accepts free reprintable articles
* etc.

There is a FREE advertising link in my signature. It is for a ad network that you can get free advertising and SEO in one. Basically, your text link or banner ad will be displayed on others that are in the network. I currently use it for all of my websites and I think that there is approx 5000 members involved right now. Other than that, try searching for free classified ads, craigslist.org, link exchanges with others, etc... hope that helps.
