I put my blog up 3 days ago. I had adsense from the beginning from another site. Well yesterday all of a sudden I started earning revenue. It was not a large amount. Since I can't really say, lets say it was less than 10 bucks, but more than 7. And for one day thats great. But what are some Tips for me to increase traffic and how do you like the general layout of my site?

To stay within the AdSense Terms of Agreement, you CAN say how much your site is earning from AdSense - I do this in a couple of case studies on AssociatePrograms.com - but you're not allowed to discuss the details such as click-through rates etc.

In the early days of AdSense, you weren't even allowed to say how much a site was earning, but that rule was changed.

I got some good news and some bad news for you.

Here's the good news:

I admire your spunk. You are even honest enough to tell people up front that you're in this for the buck. It looks like you have an ability to write and I think you've got some talent. You just need some direction.

Here's the bad news:

You don't have a snow ball's chance in hades to be successful if you don't make some changes. Not in your blog... in your thinking.

I don't want to bust your bubble, but someone has lied to you about what you can do with a web site (blog) in your case.

Slapping up a couple of pages, telling people you're trying to make a buck, and then throwing up some adsense adds just ain't goin to cut it.

If you want to get serious about this stuff and make some good money, their's a learning process you have to go through to get there. Just like the rest of us you're going to make some errors. Hopefully you'll be able to learn from others so your mistakes won't cost so much.

But you have to be a good student before you can be a good teacher and that's not even enough. We got zillions of teachers coming out the butt. You have to be a doer and I don't listen to anyone who hasn't done it.

You have to get down in the trenches with the rest of us and get dirty and bloody too.

When you're ready to make that commitment, you'll get more serious reviews. Until then Good Luck. You'll need it.

Something else to consider... Verizon is a large communications company. They might consider that your use of their trademarked name as part of your domain name, VerizonGo.com, is a trademark infringement.

There have been similar cases and the owner the domain name has forfeited the domain and had to start all over again. Here are some 2007 cases:

Just in case it happens, you should make sure you save a copy of all the material you put on your blog.

thank you all for the priceless advice. I have decided to change my domain name before I try to generate any real traffic. Verizon is big and I don't want to get wrapped up in that. Also I'm gonna try and find a niche. Any suggestions?

You are the best person to answer that question. Find a niche that suits YOU.

Experienced affiliates sometimes go where the money is - they find niches where there's really keen demand.

However, when you're just starting, it's usually much easier if you choose a small, less crowded niche, and aim to learn everything you possibly can about that topic abd be the best you possibly can be in that one niche. It helps enormously if you already have some knowledge of the topic.

That's how I started. Start by thinking about the things you know, think about the experiences you've had.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that your first site has to be brilliant. It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to be the thing you'll spend the next 10 years working on. Think of it as the vehicle you're using while you're serving your affiliate apprenticeship.

personally I would click on any of the adsense ads. I can plainly see that they are ads and not links to content.

They need to blend in better. I might just be jaded to ads but if it appears to be a paid ad I avoid it like the plague. Make me think I am getting more content.
