A little over a year ago, I created the site http://www.rewardsforgrades.com . People seem to like it, it seems to rank well in search engines, and it seems like a fairly good idea. However, even though I have links on it to affiliate programs, I just can't seem to get it to generate any sort of revenue. Any suggestions?

Interesting topic for a website, I never even knew something like this existed.
Do you get some type of commission for people who go to the reward sites? If not, maybe some of the sites offer an affiliate program - even if it is not for the reward itself, maybe you can make a little $ if someone buys from the vendor (ike Barnes & Noble).
Maybe you can put a resource under your reward description - like under B&N put an explanation of the elementary school learning system, and how it ties in to the reading reward.
It seems like the programs you promote on the left are "ads" - which they are, but if you make them more like editorials or recommended resources that are related to the rewards, you might get better conversions.
Or how about offering a free course or tips on getting better grades?

Very interesting idea. Well done! You should be able to generate good free publicity with that topic.
However, the site didn't live up to my expectations.
Here's my experience...
I went to the main page, which discusses rewards for good grades, looked for a way to find the rewards quickly and clicked on a link which says "All 19 rewards". So far, so good.
This took me to a page which presented me with a number of links. I clicked on the first one, titled "Barnes & Noble".
Surprise - and NOT a good surprise. It didn't take me to a Barnes & Noble page. It took me to a page which said: "Barnes & Noble doesn't offer rewards for grades, but they do have a summer reading program..."
So you've annoyed your visitor, who hasn't found the info promised. Big mistake. Annoyed visitors are most unlikely to persist with your site and most unlikely to buy anything.
I think you should make it clearer what visitors will find when they click on a link.
The Blockbuster link gives the promised info. However, the "Chick-Fil-A" link took me to a page on which there's an HTML problem. Same with the "Country Greens" link and the "Crown Theatres" link.
And the "Topps.com" link. (I'm using Firefox, just in case that makes any difference.)
Several disappointments in only a few clicks... You've now disappointed far too many of your visitors.
Have you tried AdSense ads on the site? Perhaps some of your annoyed visitors would click on an AdSense ad as a way of escaping from your site.
As Kris says, you need to look for ways to tie in the ads with editorial content.
I like the idea of a free course on how to improve your grades. Perhaps you could go to elance or somewhere similar and hire someone to write a report "How to improve your grades in six easy steps" and sell it.
You could also search for books on the subject and review them. An enthusiastic review of such an on-topic book should generate sales.
I haven't done research on this, but there must be good related affiliate products you could review. The more articles, the more phrases to help you rank well in search engines.
You could review a good memory book, and explain how improving your memory will improve your grades. I did a quick search at Google and found a book which looks perfect to promote on your site... " Super Memory - Super Student: How to Raise Your Grades in 30 Days". (I haven't read that one by I've read another memory book by Harry and it helped me when I was at school.)
The affiliate revenue on such a book would be very small, but if you bought the book, read it and wrote an enthusiastic review, prominently promoted on all pages of your site, you should generate useful sales. _________________ Allan Gardyne
