hi everybody,
Google AdSense is a great way for webmasters to monetize their websites. While
many webmasters are struggling hard to earn $3 - $10 per day, some 'genius'
webmasters have already enjoyed $30, $100, and even $300 a day from AdSense ads
on their websites. How are these 'genius' webmasters differ from their counterparts?
They think different! They think out of the box!
Let me share with you some tips which has been responsible in boosting my AdSense
profits by 700%. Here are 5 of them, and if you follow these steps, I'm sure you'll see
a difference in your AdSense income.
Here are the tips:
1. I concentrate on 1 format of AdSense ad, which is the Large Rectangle
(336x280). This format has been proven to work with me in resulting high click-
through rates (CTR). Why this format? Because the ads look like normal web
links, and people are trained to click on these types of links.
2. I create custom palette for my ads. I choose white as the color for the border
and background. This is because all of my pages have white background. The
idea is to make the AdSense ads look like they are a part of my web pages.
3. Previously, I put all my AdSense ads at the bottom of my pages. One day, I
moved those ads to the top of the page. The result surprised me. My earning
increased! Since then, I don't hide my AdSense ads anymore!
4. I maintain some links to other relevant websites, and I put my AdSense ads at
the top of the links, so that my visitors see them first.
5. I automate the insertion of AdSense code into my web pages using SSI (server
side included). You'll need to ask your web administrator whether your server
supports SSI or not. Here's how to do it. You just put the AdSense code in a
text file, save it as 'adsense.txt', and upload it to the root directory of your web
server. Next, call the code on other pages using a one line SSI code like this:
This trick is really a time saver especially for those who use automatic page
generators to generate pages on their website.

Why would you buy into this crap?
Adsense is another monetization model for adding income, but it's probably the worst way to earn money. I know people who have started blogs expecting some nice checks from Adsense and have discovered to their horror that many site visitors have become ad blind. In other words, click through rates are suffering. But adsense income is not a great way to earn income.
Let me tell you why.
1.) The average adsense income for clicks is about .15 cents. (I don't get real excited about seeing $6.90 a month income) Unless you have some high per click keywords your income will be spotty at best.
2.) Adsense clicks pulls visitors away from your site. Google does not allow clicks to open in a new window so every site visitor who clicks on a Adsense ad leaves your site. Do you know how insane that is? You work your butt off to provide great content. You work to get SEO for more free traffic, or worst you invest hundreds of dollars per month to get people to your site for what? To have them leave it?
You need to think about this stuff before you spread this garbage.
If I have a site with 200 visitors per day and my click through rate for any ad is 20%, I would much rather my those people click on an affiliate program or my own products which pay me $10 - $20 - $30 than .20 cents a click.
Should Adsense be totally ignored. Of course not. I have pages on many of my sites that do not sell or have no markets for other products. That's a good place for adsense. I have many sites that are information only sites... that may be a good place to monetize using Adsense. But even blogs are taking a look at more affiliate programs and offering advertising space as a more effective way of earning consistent income.
Just be aware that when someone leaves your site to go to another... you may earn .20 cents .50 cents .. heck you may be lucky enough to earn $1.80... but what have you lost? You might have lost a life time customer... worst.. what if that visitor who just left your site pulled out their credit card and paid out $50 to that other guy they clicked on... you know, the one your site just sent your visitor to.
Just my 3 1/2 cents (adjusted for inflation) _________________ Paul

Hang on! The worst way for whom? Experienced, skilled marketers who are good at copywriting may be able to generate more revenue in other ways. However, AdSense is really good for beginners and it's also really good for lazy marketers who don't want to spend time tracking and testing and tweaking and getting every detail right. When you're generating revenue from AdSense, you can get all sorts of things wrong and still make good money.

I'm not surprised... there are millions upon millions of mediocre blogs, most of them attracting very little traffic. As well as ad blindness, perhaps a big part of the problem is that their blogs aren't getting enough visitors.

Only Google will know what the average is. To me, 15 cents for a mere click - no sale required - is jolly attractive. However, if the end result is $6.90 a month, then there's a really serious problem somewhere. You see the problem as the amount paid per click. Perhaps the problem is also a serious lack of traffic.

For several years, I've earned thousands of dollars a month from AdSense. Across a number of websites, my AdSense revenue is fairly consistent.

Hang on! Every visitor is going to leave your site at some stage anyway. If you can persuade some of them to pay you a few cents each as they leave, that's a good result, I reckon.

But you've missed out a step. Keeping to your example with its optimistic 20% click-through on your affiliate ad, if 1,000 people arrive at your site, 20% of them - 200 - click on your link and go to the vendor. But you have to take into account the next step, the vendor's average conversion rate. Maybe 1% or 2% of those people will actually buy. So, in your example, you'd earn somewhere between $10 and $60 for every 1,000 visitors.
Now, if you're skilled at pre-selling and can achieve a superb 20% click-through rate, and are really good at warming up your visitor in readiness for a purchase, and if you're promoting a fairly high-priced product that pays residual revenue, everything you say makes perfect sense.
However, lots of affiliates aren't very good at copywriting and aren't good at pre-selling. In their world, getting paid for every click on an AdSense ad also makes lots of sense. _________________ Allan Gardyne

bkbiloxi,
If your conversion is, like you say 20%, it means that out of your daily visitors 40 will click AdSense ad. 40 x 0,30 = $20 per day x 30= $ 360 per month. ( 0,30 per click isn`t that difficult.)
Let`s compare these figures with the regular affiliate program figures: if your conversion rate with some link you have on your site is 1%, you will need 100 visitors to get one sale, let`s say $ 30, but if your conversion rate is 0,1% ( this may be closer to the reality) you need 1.000 site visitors to get one sale of $ 30.
Now if you get those 1.000 visitors and you have CTR of 20 %, 200 will click AdSense ad, times 0,30 makes $ 60 in 5 days ( according to your 200 visitors per day.), which is douple compared to the product sales.
Even better if they both click AdSense ads and buy the products.

Let me respond to your response.
I can only use my 7 sites and I apologize if it sounded like I was blasting Adsense, because I was.
I have a recipe site that only gets about 6,000 hits per month. It's about 14 months old. I can't boil water, so this is not my passion.
I ran adsense on that site for 6 months, my best month was $10.30 with Adsense.
3 months ago, I took down adsense on 6 of my highest volume pages and replaced them with a cookbook (it took me 3 months to find a decent cookbook) and in the last 3 months my earnings for the affiliate cookbook has been $600. (keep in mind, my affiliate commission for this cookbook is only about $11. I could do better if I had my own ebook)
Now I know there are some out there making gazillions with Adsense. But for the average newbie with hardly any traffic and that doesn't have insurance sites or any other high paying Adsense clicks at $2-$5, I still stand by my "you have to be insane to use Adsense" statement.
There is an exception: if you have a lot of traffic already with no better monetization model, or you have a niche that has some good traffic with high PPC payouts. But what young site owner or newbie has either of those?
Can you earn a lot of money from Adsense? Yes. Will you? Not likely.
If you add up the Adsense income from all 7 of my sites, it would not exceed $200 per month. The ebook on one of my sites does. Now maybe I'm just un-lucky or really bad at picking a niche.
Adsense can be a part of your mix. As I said, there are pages on my sites that I just can't think of another way to monetize. But God help you if that's the only way you monetize or if you bought into the "I'll throw up 50 Adsense sites and get rich" garbage.

Many times I see threads about AdSense on the forums, where the idea is that your monetization is either AdSense or product sales, but not both.
This is a little bit black/white thinking. It can be that AdSense ads take some interest from the product sales, because people, who have clicked AdSense and maybe not seen the ad interesting will leave the page, but that happens also with the product links.
I have a very good experience about AdSense ( Google rules prevent me to tell figures) and also about product sales and I doubt whether I could replace the AdSense income with additional product sales, if I would take away AdSense ads.
I make a living from adsense and i think $0.15 is low but it depends on the niche. If you want to make big money from adsense you need to change your niche or work with your content or traffic. My average income is $0.62 and my best pays me over $2.00 per click, its all about the quality of your niche, traffic, content and placement of your adsense ads.
If you think you can just slap up a blog about "ants" and make 100's a day you really need to learn more. If you just want to make a few dollars per week from your site to pay for your hosting or whatever thats fine but if you really want to make money from adsense you have to do your research and track everything..
I can tell you that the beauty of adsense for me and why i love adsense is that i make money 24/7 from a 5 min website.. Yes it takes 5 min to build a niche site that brings in money day after day after day, thats it.. No more work and i can start with the next one.. I make money from ppc and free SE traffic.
Thank's to adsense I went from delivering pizzas for a living to building a successfull google adsense business that brings in 100's of dollars per day and if someone ask me how to make a few quick bucks from their site i always tell them about adsense.. adsense is one of the fastest and best programs to work with if your just starting out.. You dont make the most money online from adsense but its a great program to start with.
Today I'm dedicated to coaching new entrepreneurs on how to earn more, work less, and enjoy life without compromising your values! I just sold my adsense business to my brother cause i make even more from my list and coaching but thats another story.

I also love AdSense. My motto is:
"If you know how to make $3 from a site using AdSense ads, you can create 100 similar sites on other topics and earn $300 etc..."
In any case, you don't want to have a site without AdSense, it can't hurt your site, only add to your revenues so why not? _________________ I use the FREE Ever Profits toolbar.
