(not sure where to post this it doesnt seem
to fit in anywhere )
Hi I am thinking of making up a forum or possibly more and as I am new to doing this I would like to ask you some general questions.
1 - When making up a forum do you have to moderate it ?
2 - if you do, how do you go about getting moderators ?
3 - For a beginner, making up a forum what are some of the “things” that you should have in place
and do in order to succeed ?
4 - What types of forums the most popular and successful ?
5 - This question may be a hard one to answer, but I'll ask it anyway.
What is the average length of time it may take in order for an individual to start reaping the benefits
from a forum even though they may be small at first ?

I've seen an unmoderated forum that contains racist comments, obscenities, spam... all sorts of really nasty stuff. If that's the sort of forum you want to own, no, you don't have to moderate your forum.

Whew! I'll answer part of that... It helps hugely if you start by having a site that gets at least 1,000 visitors a day, and then you add a forum. Usually a lot of traffic is needed because many people just read the posts - they don't contribute.
I'll leave some of the questions for others. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Niche selection would have to depend on your expertise, passion and knowledge base - don't go about starting a forum theme just because you have read other were successful with it.
You can only entice visitor to actually register and participate once they see the relevance that your forum have to offer - and you as the admin should be well versed and be able to contribute constructively in your own forum
