Hello again,

I know this may be a dumb question to ask but here we go.

I'm actually in the process of typing up my copy text for my first 30 pages or so for my website.

I'm doing this before I get my SBI account so I'm not wasting time trying to get the site up and running.

I just want to make sure that it is possible to cut and paste my text into my pages on SBI. I'm using Microsoft Word to type them up.

Like I said not a great question, but I really don't want to retype 30 pages when I set up my site.

Thanks again. Smile

Hi DebtFreeMe,

There are no dumb questions . . . Smile

Yes, it is actually recommended to copy and paste into SBI.

If you are using Word, save your pages as Txt (text) it will stop the problems with those curly quotes. But . . .
. . . you might want to hold up on getting all that content ready.

One of the great features of SBI is Brainstorm It! which will help you decide upon your niche/topic, (as well as getting you a great keyword list.) Smile

You may be sure of your niche now, but what if after using Brainstorm It! you change your mind and go for a different niche, or a change of angle?

Don't worry about wasting time, the more you 'do the ground work' the better chance your site will have of success.

Hey Mr. Chamberlain,

Thanks for the great advice. I actually did read all the guides that SBI has, and followed the principles that Ken Evoy lays out to find a niche for my site.

I used quite a few sites to help put together my keyword directory, and to find keywords in my niche to go after.

I used the SEO Book keyword suggestion tool, and the Google Adwords Traffic estimator to come up with a number for the searches per day, and then I used Google to do a search for the number of sites that have those keywords.

I ended up going through a list of roughly 300 or more key words and have narrowed down to roughly 150. Quite a pain, but not terribly so.

I used a ratio of number of searches per month to the number of sites with that key word to come up with what I think would be a good wag as to demand verses supply.

If I'm wrong on this please let me know. I know that from what I read the search estimators can often be very wrong. But having no data at all would completely leave me in the dark.

After going through 4 ideas I found one that I'm interested in, has good demand, no direct competition, and best of all those in this niche are willing to spend quite a bit on to pursue.

Thanks again

Hi DebtFreeMe,

Sorry to be a while in getting back to this thread.

I can only re state what I said in my post above.

One of SBI's most successful users took three months of using Brainstorm It to decide on his theme.

He now has a raft of successful sites. It can pay to be steady and sure, that's why SBI has a tortoise as a mascot Smile

You seem to have a grasp of researching a keyword list. Good luck.

Hi DebtFreeMe,

There's one more important step in the process of creating web pages that rank well for certain keywords.

After using all of the pre-create webpage tools like brainstorm and such, you finally get to create the webpage and enter the text you have created.

Here's when the last (and never ending) step begins.

Once the page is finished, SBI can analyse your webpage and tell you if it finds it to be likely to rank well.

Normally you'll be tweaking your page in size, numer of words, layout, number of text links e.t.c for a while until the analyse tool is pleased.

But it is worth it!

I have found it to as good as if not better than any highly specialized search engine ranking analysis software.

So my advice is to only work on the text in general and decide on titles, subtitles, text links and similar after creating the page and use the analysis tool as help.

Sellportal,

Thanks for the advice. I didn't realize that SBI had a tool in it for really tweaking your copy, but I am definitely happy to hear that.

I'm currently putting together the body text, and hadn't really gotten into heading and sub heading text and layouts.

But after hearing that SBI can help me do that I will hold off and let it work it's magic.

Thanks again.

DebtFreeMe,

The tool wont tweak the html for you, it tells you what it thinks should be changed.

The good part is that there quite few variables to consider and once you get the hang of it, you can create new pages accordingly.

I normally get quite close to perfect in my first try with each page, that's how easy it is.

And the pages created can compete with the best!

Excellent, I'm really looking forward to getting into it. I only have a few more pages to write. I'm very much enjoying researching the niche I'm in.

My problem is in writing my pages, not so much with putting the information on the page, but putting it together in a way that is interesting and will keep people reading.

I'm sure that's another subject for another post.

Thanks yet again Razz ,
