Find a topic that interests you and you can spend hours upon hours sharing with others how you feel about it and yes people can tell when you are sincere. help them and it comes back to you.

Hi Cay, if you want to make a quick buck, why not writing articles for someone and charge for it. You can charge your article for $5 - $10. It all depends on you.
By the way, your post here using Codrut's advice really is working. See how many views you've got... nice going. I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about.

Yeah, interesting, but I hope you are not encouraging this as a tactic for making "serious" money? It may be "working" in the sense that it is attracting views, but to achieve sales, a lot more is involved.
No matter how well crafted the Subject line of your post, if you just make the occasional flying visit to a forum asking a question without participating, do you think other forum members are going to treat your post seriously? Hardly. Nearly all forum members are going to be perceptive enough to recognize exactly what you are doing.
Marketing is not just about facts. It is also about perception. To make a sale, you have to connect with your reader.
I think the best way to make serious money is to design a business that suits your skills, interests and personality. So, yep, there cannot be just one answer.

Whether you're making money online via affiliate marketing or other online businesses, there are 2 things you must do in order to really succeed online:
1. Do not jump on the bandwagon just because that particular business is lucrative. Do what you love, and you'll be the best in what you do.

Allan is right about choosing the business that you have interest and skills in. But what if you have a strong passion in that business but you have no skill or you have lots of skill but you have no passion?
Which one to go for?
I would personally go for passion, because when I have the passion for it, I'll do whatever I can to pick up the skill and excel in it. If you have skill and no passion, most likely you won't hold on too long in that field.
2. Focus, focus, focus. Focus on just one thing at a time. Over 95% of marketers failed online just because they lost their focus on what they wanted to do. It's always the case.
If you focus on 10 things at a time, you're only 10% good at each, but if focus on one thing at a time, you'll be 100% good at that.
Burn in your mind these 2 of the most critical success factors when you're starting off in this online marketing world.

I, too, am new to this arena. The best thing I found was a good coach who "forced" me to focus and take action. I was afraid to do anything for fear of doing it wrong or getting flamed or something. But he said that "no one is perfect, so I'll never do anything perfect, so just do something". That has helped a lot and the more I do things the easier it gets. It's a lot of work, but hopefully, when everything is set up it will take a lot less time. We'll see!

You are right Nancyj. It is good for you to have someone watching your shoulder. You can do it all by yourself but it's going to take you a longer time for you to see some good results.

Everybody seems to be peddling "opportunities". I have visited a lot of these websites and one can easily spot the guys who either have the ability to write good ad copy or hire advertising agents.
It seems to me that unless one has a large advertising budget, it is better to lurk in the shadows or the forums and do bum marketing.
I have made sales (non opportunity), but mostly in direct response to articles that I submitted to directories. I don't think my sites could do that with their present landing pages. If I hadn't earned money by writing articles I would be broke by now.
I actually need someone to look at two sites I am working on and give some critique. I am not sure whether I am allowed to give the urls in the body of the post.
Anybody willing?

sadly nothing easy comes along easy unless you are a pro and have a huge list....
Easy comes easy goes. Im with Site build it and it is hard work trying to create a long term serious business - lol I have not even got my home page up

I truly believe that the best way to make a living online is to create your own product.
Once you have created your own product, or service for that matter, you can start utilising the many successful affiliates that are out there earning a good income already.
Take me for example; I have tried many different things from Affiliate Websites to Adsense Websites to very little success.
I have now moved onto my own "Affordable" Website Design Business based in New Zealand which I plan to recruit other New Zealanders to sell for me (on a commission of course)
