I just renewed it.

I'm disappointed in my efforts over the first year. I neglected it completely for a few months.

Anyway, it's about 60 pages big. No sales. Under $5 in adsense. I didn't really expect instant moolah, because I need content and traffic first.

Give me your impressions. Can this ever become a viable business?

Thanks,

Zach

I think it can. I think it will need a lot of tortoise determination and patience, but I certainly think it can be done.

I'm guessing that 'dietary supplements' is a pretty tough niche and also fairly broad. You could perhaps have narrowed it a bit but I'd say it is no disaster if you are prepared to wait that bit longer to 'snowball' Wink

I like your 'voice' and you present good content without over monitizing.

It looks to me as if you have studied the Action Guide, that's good, and employ the tier system well.
Are you making efforts to obtain relevant incoming links?

Your look and feel is OK but at some point you may want to customize it a bit.

Head down, shoulder to the wheel, keep on sticking to the Action Guide, you are going to make it Smile
And yes, I love Brussel Sprouts. Smile

I think you can increase personal input even further. If you expose your persona and show exactly to your readers what you are taking and how does it make you feel, what are the overall effects etc.

About -page should have close-up photo as well as photos of you doing something energetic. The best scenario would be to before and after photo series.

All in all it looks like the thing you need most is - new links. Pick up a site that you consider the toughest competitor (hint: usually number one spot at Google) and do things they are doing - directories, articles, news, blogs.

Thanks for the responses.

Yeah, backlinks are my weak spot. I've only just started to write articles and post on forums.

How else to build quality backlinks?

I'm also working on building a list. I have a 52 week autoresponder on "alternative health" in the works.

You are in a niche where Authority REALLY MATTERS.

You are in effect giving medical advise. But where are the site credentials?

Are you a registered dietitian?

Why would someone believe what they find on your site?

When you can answer that then you can move forward. Otherwise you are likely wasting your time.

Hi Quest,

That's a bit on the harsh side isn't it?

Of course, there may be places in the world where you need qualifications to promote 'dietary supplements', but generally I see them promoted everywhere.

Do we all have qualifications in every niche that we engage in?

I would say that Zach is taking steps to gain visitors confidence through his 'voice', of course you may have a different view.

I think what is needed is some encouragement because the site does indeed have potential.

Quest,

You're fantastically naive about the dietary supplements industry if you think everyone in it is a registered dietitian.

Yeah, authority is important. But it's conveyed much more powerfully through the writing than through a credential. If credentials were so important to consumers, they would only read medical journals.

What good are credentials if you present info in a boring way?
