Okay so I have pretty much "NICHED" myself to death. I have this huge list and I am going through it and then I discover that I have something that is pretty untapped and actually a niche inside a niche, inside another niche HA!
I also found that it is something I have a personal passion for and will continue to have to put up with for at least the next, ah... say 10 years.
I have been doing a bit of keyword research and my main keyword has less than 325,000 hits on Google, its pretty small but very important.
My main concern is that I have been researching affiliate programs as well and there isn't much out there for this particular niche. So what do you do when this happens.
The people who would be most interested are parents, mainly mothers, and as a mom myself I am always finding myself concerned with this one particular thing.
Just a general idea, the overall BIG niche is Healthcare. _________________ Visit YourLinkAssistant Online Today

First, make absolutely certain that you're not overlooking some affiliate programs. After all, there are hundreds of affiliate networks. You've probably already done this, but just in case...
Think of keywords that the affiliate vendor might use and do searches like this...
Search in Google for
"affiliate program" +keyword1
"affiliate program" +keyword2
"affiliate program" +keyword3
"affiliate program" +keyword4
"referral program" +keyword
"associate program" +keyword
etc
Are there websites selling products in this niche? What keywords are they using? How do they describe their products?
Study those pages for new keyword ideas for your Google searches. It's possible that you're assuming affiliate vendors would use one phrase when they're actually using a different phrase.
Still can't find an appropriate affiliate program and you're absolutely certain there's demand in this sub-niche?
Just checking... Have you really done careful keyword research? Finding out that there are lots of pages in Google mentioning something does not prove there's lots of demand, lots of people searching for that phrase. You'll need to use a keyword research tool such as Wordtracker or Nichebot to find out what people are actually typing into search engines.
Here's a post I wrote that will give you background info...
Analyzing keyword supply and demand
http://www.AssociatePrograms.com/discus/ftopic8210.html
Think carefully about your target market - those women who are interested in ***. Are there books or magazines on *** that you could promote? Are there videos or DVDs?
Picture a typical woman in this *** sub-niche. What closely related product would she use? When she's thinking about *** or doing ***, what other closely related products would she be using? Can you sell those products to her?
OK. Still seeing useful demand and no appropriate affiliate product? Sounds unlikely, that's why I'm suggesting you carefully check your research.
However, if there is no appropriate product, fantastic! Consider going to eLance or a similar site and hiring a writer to write a useful report aimed at helping people in your sub-niche. Sell the report via ClickBank. (It costs only about $50 to set up.) You'll need to get an appropriate domain name (under $10 a year) and some web hosting (maybe $10 a month.) You could even hire someone at elance or Rentacoder to set up the whole process.
Hey! Now you're in action. You're an affiliate vendor and have affiliates promoting your product.
Recheck all that careful research, first, though. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Thanks Allan for the guidance. I might not be doing the keyword research correctly so I will definately back track and see what I get with your advice.
I found the idea of writing a useful report great! I will keep that on my list of this to do for this niche...didn't even think of that!
But first back to the drawing board on my keyword research.
Will let you know how it goes!

Allan has already provided a very exhaustive and well thought feedback to your dilemma.
You have also alluded that you are going back to the drawing room to do more keyword research.
Just my thoughts - as you go about doing your keyword research consider drilling down to an in depth research of each separate niche inside your main niche.
For instance if you are ambitious enough you could create each site/blog entirely dedicated to that particular group in your list. Eventually they could then all feed to your main site.
Things get complicated and complex though under this arrangement. But it can be done. _________________ Slow and Steady sure Wins!

Also consider offering products that appeal to the larger niche, not just the niche within the niche.
For example, if your niche is "parenting kids who never take a bath" there may not be many affiliate programs specific for this niche, by many programs offering parenting books, bath products, natural health products, etc.
Good luck,

Thanks so much!
I have actually been doing a lot more focused and in depth (keyword) research and found that I can work my niche into many different affiliate opportunities as you suggested Kris.
I have even gone one more step further and researched whether or not there is a product offered in my niche that would be beneficial to parent's and there isn't one specifically geared toward what I would like to offer, and it is flourishing into something really interesting.
But for right now I am still going through the process and building everything step by step to begin putting together valuable content for my site, (which I will be starting with site build it! tomorrow).
I'm looking forward to revealing everything with you guys soon!
My next newbie question is, as I go through the keywords some of them have low to average demand, and then very low to no supply. Would it be a good idea to use these kinds of keywords?
I have my list of the perfect high demand low supply keywords, and I have even broken out and found other niche related words which I have turned into so many different content topics!
Some of my keywords I am going with because I think they will do well after I really thought about what a customer would want and need.
I really just want to get started on the right track and tweak and test as I go along. So I am definitely parked on Day 3 of the Affiliate Masters Course.
(You should have seem me printing that thing out! )
Press on!

Probably the best way to start with keywords is to come up with 1 or 2 main keywords for each of the main pages of your site. For the supporting pages, you can target the "long tail" keywords, which are smaller, and can be reached through link building/article marketing.
But with a niche within a niche, if you pick keywords that are too specific, you may get high rankings but little traffic. So pick keywords that are at least worth your effort. And you can always do an Adwords campaign to test which keywords get you traffic/sales.
There is no single best answer, you'll just need to start with the keywords you identify as the best, and test, test, test to determine which ones are really the best!

If you're planning to use SBI, you'll find that the Action Guide will give you detailed advice on choosing your niche and choosing keywords. So don't make final decisions until you've studied it. _________________ Allan Gardyne

go to Google. Type in your keywords. Look at the Advertisers in the right column. Are there any?
If so who are they are what are they selling? If it's just "junk" sites like Target and Shopping Comparison services then the likelyhood of finding a good program is pretty small.
It's small but not impossible.
Now you have to see if what they are selling really is a "niche" product or if it's a consumable.
Can the product be purchased locally?
What is the selling price (Is there room for commission)?
This is a great way to give you a quick idea if there is much money to be made as an affiliate opportunity.
If there is a "market" there will be advertisers. It's pretty uncommon to find that one product that nobody else knows about. That doesn't mean it's not there, it just means the odds are really low. _________________ Earn $10 INSTANTLY for Promoting Affiliate Products

| Have you spoke to your friends and colleagues is this something that they would buy? I think you would be better targeting a wider audience as you can generate more people and probably a more profitable website, also you can include more content which relates to the wider niche which might include words you had not thought of including to attract your niche within your niche. |
