As with every other business, search engines are fighting to have a good market share by providing their visitors with relevant and useful information.
Google as a leading search engine provider is working to improve its search results by continuously updating its algorithms to provide its visitors with relevant, useful and fresh information.
One of the technologies, Google uses in its algorithm to provide users with relevant information is Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI).
Latent semantic indexing allows a search engine to determine a relevancy of a page not only with its search query, but also with the context of the search query.
In other words, LSI helps search engine to retrieve data based on the context of the search query. For instance, Search engine are able to identify “Laptop” and “Notebook computer” are similar conceptually.

Its great to learn about LSI. Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) is good for the web searcher because they get more relevant, compelling content. It’s good for the search engines because it increases the quality of the content in their databases. And its good for your business because it ensures you’ll have content that drives more traffic to your site for more conversions and sales.

LSI is an interesting topic because on the surface it makes so much sense.
But when you crunch the numbers ... billions of webpages to index, and then figure in the sheer processing power needed to do the computations on all those pages, it kind of makes one wonder if it is truly possible.
I believe Google will only have the capability to use selective features of LSI.
Ultimately it's more important that you focus on unique and quality content, and writing in a normal manner. The LSI will fall into place automatically if you do that.
Personal search based on IP Profiles and a host of other factors will likely make figuring out LSI tips and tricks impossible.

ShishayWubshet,
This is something I have heard of before but have not seen anyone go into detail on. I will be taking a look at this in the very near future. I was trying to finish up all my SEO reading in the first quarter of this year so I can just be working on application for the remainder. This adds to my required reading but no complaints to anything that will improve performance.
