If you've got Microsoft Frontpage, you could give that a shot if you want a traditional website. Lots of people use that when they are just starting out.

I'd second the Wordpress suggestion for a blog.

You can have Wordpress host it on their own servers for free (option 1), or set up your own hosting and ftp the wordpress system to your own server (option 2).

The first option will let you play with it to learn how things work, but the second option is the one you should use for using affiliate links.

There's a lot of good tools out there but the best free one i've used is Kompozer.

WordPress really isn't a design tool... that's the power. Everything is done for you. You install it, choose a template, your plugins then just start writing. The software takes care of the design so you don't have to.

Unless you are interested in design and creating pages from scratch (Very Time Consuming) there is no longer much reason to bother with design.

Focus on marketing and content.

Give WordPress a try.

If you don't like it and want easier you can always create Squidoo Lenses and Hub Pages or Blogger Blogs and then work with Articles and Article Directories.

There are many affiliate marketers I come across that are doing quite well without creating their own sites.

I have a friend that didn't design his website to do biz through internet instead he use Wordpress for blog and for website he use template either free or paid and edit it.

My web designer friend recommends me Xsite Pro if you really want to do it from scratch.
