Hello all
I am new to this board so forgive me if this topic has been discussed ad nauseum. I have a PHP driven site and wonder how this will affect me in regard to google bots. If I do a search for my domain I show right up but I am way down the list (invisible) for any of my keywords. If anyone has any intel on this subject I would really appreciate the feedback.

Keep an eye on your listings. You want to be sure the dynamic nature of your site (if it is dynamic) doesn't prevent your pages from being spidered. Special characters in urls ?+= can cause problems with any spider, not just Google, also the ID tag (common with session ID's in php sites) can cause spiders problems and they will back out of spidering a site.
Now, the other main problem with php, or other dynamic page generation site, is to be sure your meta tags <title> description and keywords are different on each page and targeted to the content of that page. If you try to carry the same thing across the entire site, it isn't going to help you much.
Don't get too wound over not ranking highly for a keyword you targeted, just get more content, more keyphrases, to increase the opportunity of ranking well.
Also, don't expect to rank well for highly competitive terms with hundreds of thousands of searches a month, and hundreds of thousands of sites targeting those same keywords. Get niche

Search engines have no problem with PHP unless there are session IDs. The site in your sig is fully indexed as far as I can tell - you seem to link to about 10 pages.
In terms of rankings, PHP won't have an effect. You just need to optimize each page. As Debs suggested, it seems as though all of your pages have the same title. You need the title to relate to the page.
In addition to that, work on getting the anchor text of links (both from other sites and your own pages) to use the keywords that you want to rank well for.
The problem with the titles is that ALL pages load from the template folder with page_top.ihtml as well as page_bottom. The META data is all in page_top.ihtml. I'm not sure if there is a way to fix it but...I now have, yet another avenue of research to persue. Thanks for the input.

Jason, you need to modify the php to set up variables for the meta tag information, and modify the database to include the metatags information. I don't think you can change the page name by page, but you can change the template name to at least your primary keyphrase.
