Help Question I have reached an impass in the development of this site and would apreciate any and all feedback. The rankings with the search engines / directories have been rising steadily but have gotten very little interaction with "real" people.

Thanks for any ideas you may have.

There are a lot of freebies and resources galore, please help yourself but give me an idea or two please. Site: http://www.SwORb.com/

First off your email doesn't work in netscape, and when properly coded they do work on other sites. You may want to check that your coding is cross browser compatible.

I like the menu but the colors seem to be fighting for each other ... I counted 7 colors on the home page alone ... make that 16, including 7 different text colors on a yellow background, red/white/blue navigation and silver/gold logo on a white background. You want people to hang around and relax so give them a site design that doesn't fight for attention with the text.

The layout is good ... but the home page centering in the content is hard on the eyes ... very hard to follow. Centering should be done sparingly ... a short paragraph or sentence ... a one liner ...

Having different font sizes through out your content is also hard to concentrate on because it tires the eyes very easily. Headings should be larger than the text, but the body text should remain relatively constant throughout the site.

There are several spelling errors on the home page, you may want to run your content through a spellchecker prior to posting online.

In checking your metatags, you don't target those phrases on the pages at all ... naming a page fresh-perspectives.html with a keyphrase that goes on forever (no commas) and the first few words in that keyphrase being:
"action business opportunities free business development articles" does nothing for you with ranking with the SE's. Do check out some of the threads here in the SEO section for tips on how to help your rankings and visitors.

I would recommend dropping the "last updated" date, as well as the visitor count ... it ages your site very fast ... unless you script it to change all the time regardless of # of visitors or when you last updated ... and that's not good ethically.

Hi James,

I looked at your site, and you have put me into a dilemma, I really want to help you, it is so obvious that you have worked hard and dedicated who knows how much energy to putting your site together, but the best thing that I can tell you is change your theme and start over.

I was tempted to just ignore your request, and move on, but then I wouldn't be sincere, and this message is not aimed just at you, but the hundreds or thousands that are in this same exact boat.

You're in a practically no win situation - forgive me, this may be hard to hear, but this site is going nowhere, and there is very little I can do to help you make it go somewhere. I am saying this in all sincerity with the honest desire to help you, I really don't want to put you down or your efforts, or kill your enthusiasm.

Redirect your energy, find a niche that reflects more who YOU are or KNOW, you're currently competing with others that are far more experienced than you in this field of Internet Marketing and Ecommerce, the competition is fierce. You really need to know what you're doing to make it in this field. How can you help others in this field if you need such help yourself from a forum?

It is a GOOD thing to ask for advice - I do it all the time, but the problem here is different. You, like thousands of others, obviously got sucked into the DREAM of financial freedom and you are working from the outside-in, not the inside-out.

Working from the inside-out means sharing something that you really know something about, and conveying this authority and knowledge to your visitors - this creates trust in your visitors, that critical key ingredient towards a lasting success. Don't stay on this DREAM bandwagon hoping that some of its riches will rub off onto you - they won't.

Let me tell you something, I am part of a group of 4, and without bragging, we are good at marketing - we offer high end seminars that cost more than $1000 a seat, 6 times a year. One of my partners is amongst the best SEO people that I know of - he can obtain thousands of visitors a day for just about any theme. And we have obtained tens of thousands of opt-in subscribers for various sites, both for our clients and ourselves. We even write our own software for our specific marketing needs and those of our clients.

And you know what? We have to fight for our positions, we have to fight for our subscribers, we have to fight for our sales.

The INTERNET MARKETING THEME IS SUPER TOUGH!!!

We NEVER advise others to go into this field, unless they really, really, really, know what they're doing, otherwise it's suicide. If you really, really, really knew what you were doing, you wouldn't be asking for help like this here, and I would have learned from your page, not grimaced...

I am sincerely sorry to thump you like this, please believe me, it is aimed to help, not hurt.

Find your personal theme and share it - you have the capacity to do this. You will find a deeper success, and when you do this, I would be very happy to help you out.

Tim
