I just want to say that I have been reading this form from the outside for quite some time and have enjoyed it and felt it was time to register and join in.
I am just entering into the interesting and hopefully profitable world of affiliate marketing. This is what I will be doing after owning a bricks and mortar cellular phone and computer store for twelve years to which I am going to semi retire from shortly. Other than do the bookkeeping and provide a little business advice once and awhile, affiliate marketing is what I will be doing the majority of time from now on.
It will be nice to have a break from dealing with the general public day after day even though the majority of the time it was great to do so.
The first thing I notice is how there was vast differences between the two styles of doing business, offline and online. I was wondering if there are other people out there that have followed this route. Perhaps a blog or an e-book is in the making following my progress as it goes along comparing the two. Maybe I can exchange a little offline business advice for some online advice.
Anyway I look forward to reading more interesting topics and comments on this form. Thank you. _________________ Bart R

Hi Bart, Welcome to forum!
One of the first things you'll notice online is the low percentage of people who buy after entering your store. Imagine owning an offline store in which only 1% of the people who walk through the door actually buy anything. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Thanks Allan
Good point about the 1% of customers that buy from your store online. Just as a comparison in my offline store, in rural Alberta Canada, we service 30 to 50 customers a day. They purchase a product on average 50% to 60% of the time.
To people running an online store this looks like one heck of a ROI. It is when you compare it to online but the cost to produce a profit is substantially higher in the offline with rent, salaries and other expenses.
What has attacted me to taking up affiliate marketing online, was to sell other peoples goods and services. In this way I would not have to buy inventory, work set hours, and supervise staff and all the other challenges to running a business offline. I can set the hours I want to work, whether it is first thing in the morning or late at night. To work the hours that are required to make a successful offline store will not be a problem, because I am already use to that as a small business owner. Thanks _________________ Bart R
