I personally use submission services for all of my articles. I highly recommend these two:
1. www.submityourarticles.com
This service will allow you to submit four articles each month for $40. They destribute them to hundreds and hundreds of directories and websites. This will save you a lot of time and it will also submit to more directories than most people can find manually.
2. www.thephantomwriters.com
This service will submit your article to 12,000 ezine/newsletter list owners and also some directories. This is definitely worth it even if you only get accepted by a couple list owners.
I have also heard a number of good things about www.ezinetrendz.com, but I don't have any experience with them personally.

One thing to bear in mind with posting articles...
How do they link to you?
If you are looking for a boost in your rankings rather than "just" relevant traffic, this might matter.

I've been using the text to html converter at The Phantom Writers site to set up my links so they'll be live after my submission. So far this is working well and it works on most sites. You can find the tool here:

Thanks for all the cool links guys. I am going to save them all for future use!
Here is one link that I use quite frequently. The best chance of getting an article in there is not to have the article you submit blasted around on tons of other websites. I usually do them first before I submit anywhere else. They are pretty quick at putting articles on anyway so no much for waiting. I also notice that they keep the links open and let pagerank go through. This is a plus in my book.

I highly recommend that everyone submitting articles visit http://www.EzineArticles.com and sign-up for the blog/newsletter. Chris writes some fascinating articles from the perspective of the publisher. The article sent out today was about the importance of keywords in the title and it was fascinating.

Another rather large articles directory is http://articles.simplysearch4it.com
It is a categorized directory and has over 35,000 articles that are free to reprint and approves articles daily.

I've stumbled upon this forum searching for ezine submission sites to post some of my articles to, and thought I would post here that I currently run a site http://www.millionserved.com which is a article submission site also. We currently have over 2,500 articles online. We are always looking for new authors to add never before submitted articles.
