Hi Frank
I asked Google as well and they replied saying that it is ok to have a US host as long as you don't own the equipment.
Okay. I'm almost disappointed. The situation was so utterly hillarious and such a beautiful example of what ridiculous ideas some government agencies (not just in the USA) can manage to come up with.
Frank, have you seen the one the EU have come up with?
They are trying to change the rules regarding point of sale in a very significant way. They are now claiming that any online purchase made by an EU citizen (irrespective of where the seller is based) is now eligible for VAT (sales tax) at the rate determined by the country of residence of the buyer.
They are holding the seller responsible for collecting this tax and forwarding this to them.
So far, ClickBank are the only company that I have noticed doing this. They add VAT to the price quoted by the merchant and collect it from EU-based buyers - like me.
At times like this, I bet you're glad Norway isn't in the EU, aren't you Frank?
All the best,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

Not really, it just means I have to pay the VAT myself before the customs will let me have the things I've bought online _________________ Frank Nordberg

What, even with digital downloads, rather than physical products?
Errr...
Of course, when you're dealing with tax and/or customs authorities, you have to maintain a strict need-to-know policy, but in theory yes. _________________ Frank Nordberg
