I was told to submit my blog rss feed to rss directories. How many times should I submit? Only once or everytime I have a new post?
Same question goes to blog directories submission?

For blog directories you need to submit once but for rss feed you may consider to submit when you make new posts and that also applicable for pinging. Use feedburner.com for rss and pingomatic.com for pinging.

set up feedburner for your blog and it will do the RSS submit to required directories

I guess feedburner pings your blog rss to the ping service rather than submitting to different directories. Or am I wrong?

Thats right. Pinging is what I meant. It lets some services know that your blog has been updated. However when you do the ping for the first time you blogs gets added to those services (directories).

I submit blog every week at least twice a week and pingomatic to update in the search engines.
