Unsolicited bulk email is the main forum of spam.
However, there's also search engine spam, in which junk web pages are created in bulk and clog up the search engines.
Posting material on forums in a way which ignores the forum rules is forum spam.
One really subtle form of forum spam is posting multiple, very basic beginner questions which you could easily find an answer to by doing a search in Google. Some people do this as an excuse to flash their forum signatures. They assume other forum members are too dumb to realise what they're doing.

i think the definition of spam changed over time.
I get automated posts to my wordpress blogs with junk (spam) and lot of other automated meaningless information which is aimed to get your to follow a link or click or buy something which is usually send via email
In the future if you want to know what words like SPAM mean in modern terms (today) see wikipedia, you'd be surprised how up to date this guys are.
