|

Hi all!
I got so angry, when I read a post from one forum, where the writer gave so negative picture of forums, how useless they are, that I took my PC and put my ideas about forum marketing on paper. So here they are:
1.The basic idea of forum, like this one, is to give and get useful information and motivation for our own businesses.
2 People, who post their experiences and ideas or ask questions, are highly motivated and eager to do better, all the time. This is why they spend so
much time and energy here.
3.Some of the forums are extremely popular: Associatesprograms Forum has Alexa rank of around 1.200, which makes it one of the most visited websites in the world.
Think about the amount of marketers, who join these discussions and what an enormous opportunity that offers!
4.Forum marketing is one strategy, which works well if a participant honestly and actively asks and shares information.
This is not an advertising media. This is a society, where members help members, that is the most effective way for all of us. We all have the same target: to succeed better in our businesses by getting tips and advices.
5.One strong benefit of forum marketing is, that an authority forum, like Associatesprograms Forum, is the only place, where we can meet real internet gurus, marketers, who have succeeded extremely well in their businesses.
Because those businesses are very similar to ours, we can ask and read their tips about various kind of topics. And almost in real time!
6.And more: with forum marketing we can build useful relationships with so many good marketers and send private messages.
7.On the top of all above mentioned things, forum marketing builds useful backlinks and bring steady flow of visitors.
I cannot imagine my internet business without forums, so important they are.

I totally agree with you
I have few affiliates who make about 500 GBP per month only from posting on forums. So I think it's working very well.
It could be different from on niche to other but as we know - these days there are forums on almost every imaginable topic _________________ ATT. Affiliates - earn ?60 Per Sale!

Juhanni,
Well said.
Posting to forums like this has increased my subscriber list AND I've gotten valuable backlinks to my sites.
The number one mistake I see people make in using forums to market is to blatantly promote. First establish a presence on the forum by posting helpful replies and raising new interesting topics.
Use your sig line as allowed and stay within forum guidelines.
Good things will happen if you contribute and have something worthwhile to say.

Posting blatantly ads or sneaky self promotion with affiliate links is definately a big waste of time. If the people would track their traffic from the signatures, they would be shocked how few hits they get and leave it be.
Making excellent helpful posting in ones experts area where one has a website about that field and put it in the signature is the best way and can be very effective. _________________ Just COPY the system from Ewen Chia. http://www.AffiliateKickstart.com

With one of my sites I where getting more pageviews on average from a few forums on the same topic than what I were actually getting from Google.
So forums are a good way of marketing, getting advice about important stuff, learning and also helping others. _________________ Affiliate Programs Directory - Over 2,000 Programs

Forum Marketing is an excellent way to promote your business.
Search Engines especially Google gives higher preference to those websites which update their content on regular basis. This is the reason why several forums/blogs are ranking on top of both Google, and Yahoo.
Due to their updated and quality content these forums build up strong presence on search engines.
This is the reason why forums/blogging are becoming popular these days _________________ Website Development and Promotion Company

The only problem with forum marketing is that you have to keep active in the forums if you want to keep getting traffic. I'm not worried about that though as I really enjoy the affiliate marketing topic and have done so for over 6 years now since I first learn't about it. _________________ Affiliate Programs Directory - Over 2,000 Programs

I have seen mostly PR 0 when I checked some forum threads, also here.
Continuous forum marketing is good when you have not yet a real big business, I believe. That's why the big marketers don't hang around in forums. They get more traffic with more effective methods while spending less time for it.
But some more successful marketers do forum marketing to get product ideas and build anticipation. Then at the launch they get lots of traffic. _________________ Just COPY the system from Ewen Chia. http://www.AffiliateKickstart.com

Most of the threds will be 0 because these threads are new. PR updates every 3 months or so and not in real time. _________________ Affiliate Programs Directory - Over 2,000 Programs

I've seen some in other forums that have been PR3, PR2 and PR4 and their homepage something like PR4 or PR5.
I find that the forums that mainly have PR are the ones that have the forums on the homepage or on the homepage of the sub domain.
Then I find that even if they are set up like this, then the forums have to be not that popular.
This is because all of the deep threads never will really have PR that is noticable anyway as they are so deep and when PR updates all of the threads at the start of the forums keep moving down.
That is why you don't see many threads with PR. Same with article directories. There are so many new articles being added daily that the 0 PR articles are mainly all at the top of the directories. _________________ Affiliate Programs Directory - Over 2,000 Programs

Mmmmm. Interesting. It looks as though we now have hardly any internal pages on the forum with PageRank. We used to have a lot.
I managed to find one that has PageRank:
PR2:

I'll look into this. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Good thing page rank doesn't matter.
Google is aware of spam and will make the necessary changes. Having 1,000 outgoing links from the same Forum isn't going to win you any ranking points.
But it doesn't matter. Because if you rely soley on Organic Search you have a business plan that needs updating. _________________ FREE SEO and Keyword Suggestion Tools
