Hello, I have a small website and have recently gone into blogging. As I have gotten into writing posts for my blog it has made me think. With my site I can add my keywords and key phrases into tags, header, content body and so on. How effective is it going to be for me to add these words into my blog. Blogger offers the "labels" option at the bottom of each post and I have put them to full use on each post I have written. I guess I am just wondering what kind of luck other webmaseters have had with using this vs. a conventional website.

I understand that blogging is somewhat different than what I am used to as far as getting page rank and getting listed in search engines, maybe this does not matter at all. Thanks in advance for any replies. Very Happy

I am having good luck with blogging and getting on page one of Google.

Write your post with the keyword in the title, first and last paragraph. Bold it as well. Choose keyword phrases getting searched less than the big ones. Then be sure and bookmark your post to several of the top directories like Digg, Reddit etc. Also bookmark it to Google Bookmarks.

I like to write 300-400 word articles and mix in keyword variations. I write like I talk and Google seems to like it as well.

Keep track of what you are doing. Even if it is just Google searching the keyword you targeted in your blog post. I will Google search a phrase 24-48 hours after I post and almost always my blog post url, or my article on Netscape, Digg, or PlugIm is on page one.

Now that is only true using lesser searched phrases which have less competition. But think about the power of that. If I post 2 times a day and everyone made it to page one of Google and stayed there I would have the potential of getting traffic from over 750 different keywords.

Granted it does not always work out that way, but you can see the potential over the long term for traffic from blogging and social marketing.

I have the same experience as Jeff. My best case was on page 1 of Google in a few hours, if the term is not competitive.

Cheers
